13KM to work today by bike!
.. it was an awesome ride in, with sun shining, and felt like some good exercise.
how many emissions did i save, out of curiosity??
biked to work… about 4 km. almost hit a squirrel but other than that it was beautiful! i normally carpool… so what kind of emissions did i save?
You saved .88kg Co2! and almost killed a squirrel!
get out of this girls way… !
Ran 5.5 k. I normally bus everywhere, since I haven’t bought a bike in BC. It was great to be outside, though I was running on the sidewalk in Kits and got distracted enough by walkers to trip and fall (on the pavement). I realized I’ll just have to learn to run on less busy sidewalks
Oana,
Thanks for your post!
You saved 1.32kg of CO2 by running instead of bussing!
Biked to school today… 8.7km, with an awesome uphill to UBC. Left home mid-morning, and 1:15 later, I’d made it to school, grabbed lunch, showered, and was getting to work at my desk.
Best reason to bike to UBC: biking home from UBC… downhill from Sasamat to Alma. Actually, stopped off at a friends at Alma on the way home and bussed the rest of the way, so count today’s exercise at 14km.
You saved a whopping 3.08kg of CO2 today! Go Sancho!
Unfortunately couldn’t bike yesterday because my apartment was doing power washing in our underground parking, and we had to take our cars out… But I biked 3km to work today, and 3km on the way home! Definitely hoping the weather holds out for this week!
Hey Mijay!
How dare they impede your exercise to work?!
Awesome job! You saved 1.32 kg of CO2!
16.7 km bike ride to work each morning! Awesome way to start the day.
16.7 km bike ride home at night. Feel great when I arrive at home at the upper levels of the north shore mountains!
Jaci, you save a whopping 3.74 kg’s of CO2 with every day that you bike to and from work. (& I agree, exercising to work is the BEST way to start the day off right!.. gets my aggression out !!)
Basically, for one month of work and assuming a 5-day-a-week schedule of commuting, you are contributing emissions savings of 75 KG CO2 EACH MONTH!!
Think of what the world would be like if everyone did this…

I usually drive to the gym, but since I got my sweet new bicycle, I decided to take it for a spin!
5.6 KM to the gym!
Hey ayl,
on that trip, you saved a good 3.2KG of CO2 by biking rather than your usual drive! AND, you even added to your awesome workout. Find out the extra calories you burned here! http://www.mapmyrun.com/calculate_calories
Maybe you’ll be convinced to do it more often…

OK, so far this week, I’ve:
monday: biked 13k
tuesday: run 10k
wednesday: run 13k
thursday: to be decided! probably another bike ride. Funny thing, is that I can bike & run to work in the same amount of time… maybe a good thing, or bad thing?! Not sure.. !
friday: information to be released.
I love getting up early and starting the day feeling great. I get up at 6, get going at 6:45, and make it to the office by 7:45 or 8, with thirty minutes to shower and grab coffee.
How do you schedule your exercise to work??
